There are many three-phase motor installations which do not use a neutral wire (L1, L2, L3 and Earth). Up to now it has been difficult to power low voltage DC powered ancillary equipment such as remote condition based monitoring (CBM) systems without running a separate AC or DC supply cable. The RAC15-SK/480 is designed to be connected directly between phases (277VAC or 480VAC). In addition, the extra-wide input voltage range of 100 – 480VAC or 120-750 VDC means that it can also be used with any mains supply that does use a neural wire, or in DC microgrids and back-up DC power systems making it a truly universal miniature power supply.
The RAC15-SK/480 meets a strong market need for a universal AC or DC input power supply, designed and certified to operate in harsh industrial conditions (Over Voltage Category III, pollution degree PD3 and MIL-STD 202G shock and vibration) and capable of operating over the industrial ambient temperature range of -40°C to +70°C without derating and up to altitudes of 5000m.
With three phase installations, safety is a priority, so the RAC15-SK/480 is LPS (Limited Power Source) certified and has 3.6 kVAC reinforced isolation. It is pre-certified to the all the main global safety standards: UL/IEC EN 62368-1 with CB-Report for industrial grade and IT equipment use, IEC EN 61010-1 for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use, and IEC EN 60335-1 for household and similar electrical appliances (often a requirement for building management systems). The RAC15-SK/480 is a complete power supply module with built-in EMC filtering according to the stricter Class B level, certified to EN55032, EN55035, and EN IEC 61204-3 The only external component required is a 2A input fuse that is rated for the AC or DC supply voltage used.
The DC outputs of 5V, 12V, 15V or 24V are fully protected against continuous short circuit, over-voltage, and over-current faults. The internal controller operates with spread-spectrum frequency dithering to minimize radiated EMI and under no load/light load conditions changes mode so that the power supply has only 300mW no load power consumption over the entire input voltage range of 85 – 528VAC.
