DR7808
Candidate for:2024 World Electronics Achievement Awards - Power Semiconductor/Driver
The DR7808Q is an advanced automotive-grade 8 half-bridge smart gate driver introduced by Analogy Semiconductor, specifically tailored for applications in electric car seats, electric doors, electric tailgates, and body control modules. This chip integrates eight half-bridge circuits capable of driving sixteen external NMOS transistors, featuring intelligent gate drive functionality. It supports 16-level drive capability configuration through the SPI interface, ranging from 1mA to 96mA. An innovative high-side drive mode enables any half-bridge to operate without connecting the lower transistor, significantly simplifying system design. Moreover, an integrated high-precision current sensing amplifier facilitates current limiting, ensuring stability and safety in motor drives.

The DR7808Q offers comprehensive protection and diagnostic features, including smart open-load and short-to-ground diagnostics, as well as overvoltage, undervoltage, charge pump undervoltage, overtemperature, and overcurrent protection. It supports Fail Safe mode, enhancing system reliability and robustness. With a broad operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, it complies with AEC-Q100 standards, ensuring superior performance in harsh automotive environments.

This chip supports advanced functions such as EMC optimization, automatic brake configuration, multi-level short-to-ground diagnostics, and boasts a 24-bit SPI communication interface with options for three or four PWM controls, catering to the demands of complex automotive electronic systems. The DR7808Q comes in a compact QFN-48 package, measuring just 7.0mm x 7.0mm, facilitating integration into space-constrained applications.

Compared to competing products, the DR7808Q stands out with its high-side drive mode and adjustable overcurrent protection threshold, offering a more flexible and intelligent gate drive solution.
