PC805 RF Frontend SoC for Small Cell Basestation
Candidate for:2024 World Electronics Achievement Awards - RF/Wireless/Microwave
In November 2023, Picocom announced a new, fully optimized PC805 system-on-chip (SoC) to help the industry further improve the performance of 5G small cell Open RAN radio units (O-RUs). Designing an O-RU with PC805 is greatly simplified and delivers a significantly reduced bill of materials compared to current designs.
The PC805 is a highly integrated, small-footprint, and low-power SoC with a forward speed of up to 25Gbps. It is designed to simplify the design and production of 5G NR/LTE small cell O-RUs. PC805 can support both CPRI and eCPRI interfaces and the world's major 5G NR/LTE frequency bands, including China, further facilitating the deployment of small cell in various application scenarios, including enterprise, industrial, neutral host and private networks.
The PC805 SoC is more powerful, aggregating four or more 4T4R carriers in a 200 MHz instantaneous bandwidth (IBW) for relevant frequency bands in multiple countries/regions. A single PC805 can also support multiple frequency bands, including both TDD and FDD for both 5G NR and LTE, with a cascade of two PC805 SoCs doubling the bandwidth supported.
