Visual Face Identification (FID) is commonly used to grant only pre-authorized personal access to valuable assets - from entry systems to mobile phone and banking. However, spoofing approaches employing visual imposters - pictures, or video replay, have been evolving and able to compromise even dual camera approaches based on structured light. Meridian proposes an innovative way to augment the individual face-ID signature by a 4-dimensional RGBT representation, by the fusion of visual and spectrum images with the corresponding thermal counterpart. Previously similar ideas has been investigated only in academic context with expensive research grade cameras. For the first time we are able to demonstrate low-cost personal device that incorporates dual-mode (RGB and Thermal) camera with edge-AI algorithm for real time face ID and anti-spoofing, able to withstand impostor attack from 3D-realistic face mask.
