Calterah Andes chip products are the industry's first mmWave radar SoCs based on the 22 nm CMOS technology. Andes SoCs boasts a unique architecture of a multi-core CPU, a DSP, and an RSP, offering stronger computing power and better RF performance compared to the 40 nm chip. Its Flex-Cascading® functionality empowers the powerful automotive imaging radar system. The Andes SoCs offer the most leading-edge designs of computing power, RF module, cascading functionality, debugging system, cybersecurity, etc.
(1) Computing power: The quad-core CPU provides over 2000 DMIPS of computing power. The computing speed of the DSP core is three times that of its competing products. Calterah's proprietary RSP achieves ultra-fast processing of radar signals.
(2) RF module: The Andes SoCs boast a 7-bit phase shifter based on transmission line design, supporting functions such as flexible generation of various waveforms and precise digital compensation unit.
(3) Cascading functionality: The Andes product offers Chip-to-Chip (C2C) interfaces for data exchange, enabling the Flex-Cascading® function to connect multiple chips, simplifying software design and operation. The C2C interfaces also support other functions such as distributed signal processing.
(4) Debugging system: The debugging system of Andes SoCs provides various interfaces such as JTAG and Aurora, multiple data channels, and analysis modules.
(5) Cybersecurity: The Andes SoCs use the “Security Island" design, supporting hardware acceleration for all encryption and decryption algorithms.
With Calterah’s innovative Flex-Cascading technology, Andes SoCs can achieve high-performance radar systems, facilitating a smooth transition from high-performance ADAS radar to autonomous driving (AD) radar. Depending on the actual requirements of radar systems, different numbers of Andes SoCs can be cascaded to achieve the highest cost-efficiency for radar with the greatest flexibility.
In 2024, Calterah revealed its latest innovative products and technologies, including the 2-chip cascading imaging radar solution using Andes SoCs, which redefines the development paradigm of imaging radar, the Kunlun auto-grade mmWave radar SoC platform, which expands the scope of vehicle perception, and the cutting-edge mmWave package technology—Radiator on Package (ROP®). Calterah has offered technologies and products for all three major market segments of mmWave radar: ADAS radar, imaging radar, and emerging short-range radar. To cater to the diverse needs of these segments, Calterah provides a comprehensive product portfolio, including chips based on the Alps platform (with SoC families such as Alps, Rhine, Alps-Mini, and Alps-Pro), the Andes SoC family based on the Andes platform, etc. The Alps platform covers traditional and emerging radar applications such as forward-looking radar, corner radar, in-cabin radar, and door radar, while the Andes SoCs are applied to higher-performance radar, supporting the cascading of multiple chips to achieve 4D premium radar and imaging radar functions.
